Celebrating 10 years of Mana Communications
Mana Communications recently celebrated a milestone – our 10th anniversary in Aotearoa New Zealand.
Our founder and Managing Director, Caleb, takes some time to reflect:
“As I look back on the last 10 years, it’s been a wild and wonderful journey. From the very start where it was just me with a big idea, to our evolution into a three-in-one consultancy offering brand, digital and PR services, working with a wide range of gifted people and clients.
My goal when I set out was simple: I wanted to see if I could grow a business. My first idea, conceived as part of my MBA, was to make and sell shirts. My market research – care of the study – showed I’d be on a hiding to nothing so I thought I would stick with something I knew.
From there, Mana Communications was born. My next guiding principle was to build a company that focussed as much on culture as it did the bottom line. I had experience of toxic work cultures (haven’t we all?) and I was determined that Mana would be an organisation that invested in, and supported, its people. Not only is this what I think businesses should do, it also just makes good business sense because when people are happy and feel valued, they do better work. Everybody wins.
There have been plenty of ‘stories-you-couldn’t-make-up’ moments, lots of successes, plenty of learning, loads of white knuckling, some patches of calm, laughter and the occasional tears. I wouldn’t have it any other way.
I have such a wonderful team that show up every day and give their all. We give 110% for our clients and we have a laugh along the way – with each other and with them. We work hard but we don’t work more than 40 hours a week.
We recently hosted a party for our friends and clients in Wellington. What a rich mix of people it was, covering the arts and culture, hospitality, science, health, local and central government, tourism and more. We love working with a broad range of people, it was a pity that our friends from outside of Wellington could not join.
We were honoured to be joined by newly elected Wellington Mayor Andrew Little, former Wellington Mayor Tory Whanau, and former Greater Wellington Regional Councillor Thomas Nash
A big thanks to everyone who has helped get us to where we are today. Here is to the next phase!”
